As recorded in the Shrimad Bhagavata Purana, Lord Kapil Muni was born to Kardama Rishi and Devahuti at this holy place. When Kardama Muni retired for penance, Kapil Muni imparted the divine Sankhya Philosophy to his mother on the banks of Bindu Sarovar.
Acting upon the divine word of Lord Kapil Muni, Lord Parashuram performed the very first sacred Pind Daan and Matru Tarpan at Bindu Sarovar to become completely liberated from the Matru-Hatya Dosh, establishing the eternal tradition of Matrugaya Shraddha at Siddhpur.
Siddhpur has been the revered meditation hermitage for Kardama Rishi and all 7 Saptarishis (Vashistha, Gautama, Jamadagni, Bharadwaj, Kashyapa, Vishvamitra, and Atri). It is also where Maharshi Dadhichi performed his historic Asthi-Daan for universal peace, and where the Pandavas prayed during their exile.
